How to find Panary and Cann Mills
One mile south of Shaftesbury, Dorset, on the A350, heading towards Blandford Forum. Take off down the A350, the starting point being the
Royal Chase Roundabout on the southern side of Shaftesbury.
You descend for the mile, with Cann Mills at the bottom. Look out for the red phone box on the sharp left-hand corner – it is only 200 metres further, with a PANARY sign at the driveway into Cann Mills on the right, just before the narrow bridge in the hollow.
Approaching from Blandford, you go through Fontmell Magna, then the next small village is Compton Abbas where you must start recording your mileage at the spired church in the middle of the village. After about a mile, you will begin descending. AT 1.4 miles you pass the turn-off for Melbury Abbas. At the bottom of the descent, at 1.8 miles is Cann Mills. Turn left as soon as you cross the narrow bridge in the hollow.
Take the Exeter line from Waterloo, London, and get out at Gillingham, Dorset, where a taxi can take you to your B&B or Cann Mills.
